During the 9th Five-Year Plan, the region achieved US$7.58 billion in import and export, with an export of US$4.16 billion. In 2000 the total volume of import and export is US$2 billion, while the export being US$1 billion. The region has 18 opening ports, among which are11 A-grade and 7 C-grade, 16 development zones with four of state level and 12 of regional level.
